Alloy 17-4 PH withstands corrosive attacks better than any of the standard hardenable stainless steels . 17 – 4 PH grade is readily machinable in both the solution-treated and various age-hardened conditions. It machines similar to stainless 304 in the solution-treated condition. The machinability improves as the hardening temperature increases.
